此症又名风疳,生股上,延及两腿,缠绵不已,形如黍豆,色红作痒,甚则赤肿痛。 初起用芫花、川椒、黄柏,煎水洗,即消。已破者,无论干湿,照疥疮各方治之。湿甚者, 照黄水疮(均见痈诸方)治之。久不愈者,马苋膏(用痈毒诸方)最效。或用白油膏(见腿部)。治之,更妙。 This disease [is] also called Feng Gan [wind chancre], grows from the buttocks and extends to the two legs, lingers incessantly, shaped like millet, red and itchy; [when] becoming severe, redness, swelling, and pain [present]. In [the] initial stage, use [decocted] Yuan Hua, Chuan Jiao, Huang Bai, wash with decoction, [and the sores] will disappear. For broken [sores], regardless if dry or wet, treat using the formulas for scabies. [For] severe weeping sores, treat according to impetigo (see all carbuncle formulas). [For] long unhealed [sores], Ma Xian Ointment (see all toxic carbuncle formulas) [is] most effective. Or use White Oil Ointment (see leg section), treatment [will have] great effect.
股上生疮 Gǔ shàng shēng chuāng
Sores sprouting on buttocks
生股上者名臀尖,亦有生两旁者,色红肿照痈毒各方治之,色白者照阴疽各方治之。 [Sores] sprouting on the buttocks are named Tun Jian, also there are [sores] sprouting from the two sides, treat red swellings with the toxic carbuncle formulas, treat white [sores] with Yin abscess formulas.

悬痈Xuán yōng
Suspended carbuncle
又名骑马痈,生在海底,初起细粒,渐大如桃李,俗呼偷粪老鼠。溃烂之后,一经房事 走漏,即成漏生管,体弱者患之更危。诸漏宜医,独此难治,治则漏管愈大难救。 未成脓时 ,用生甘草、熟大黄各三钱,酒煎空心服,一剂即愈。 Also called Riding Horse Carbuncle, sprouts from [the] seabed, begins as a fine grain, [and] gradually [grows] as big as a peach or plum, lay people call [it] dung-stealing mouse. After ulcerating, upon divulging in sexual activity, the sore will form [a] fistula [literally “leaky tube”], weak patients suffering from [this condition are in] more danger. All leaks should [seek] medicine, this condition alone is difficult [to] treat, treat then fistula [will be] more difficult to rescue. Before pus forms, use raw Gan Cao, Shu Da Huang each three qian[2][~0.9 grams ], wine-decocted and taken on an empty stomach, one course of treatment will cure.
如已成脓,服醒消丸即愈。倘患色白者,服小金丹即愈。此林屋山人秘方也。 又方∶用横纹生甘草一两,截数断,用水泡透,文火烘干,再泡再烘,以中心水润为止 ,切细,加当归一两,用酒煎服,日服一次,半月后方能消尽。 又方∶溃烂,久不收口、未生管者,用水仙膏(见痈毒通治门)敷之,百发百中。已生管者,照痈毒门诸疮生管各方治之。 If pus [has] already formed, taking Xing Xiao Wan [Awake and Disperse Pill] will cure. If the diseased [area is] colored white, take Xiao Jin Dan [Minor Golden Elixir] [for] quick recovery. This is a secret formula from mountain hermit. Alternate formula: use striped raw Gan Cao 1 liang[3] , cut into many sections, soak thoroughly with water, then dry [over a] slow fire, repeat soaking and drying until [only] the middle is moist, then chop [into] fine [pieces], add Dang Gui 1 liang, decoct with wine and take one per day, after half [a] month, [the] formula can be finished. Alternate formula: [for] ulcerated [sores that] chronically do not close, not yet fistulated, apply Shui Xian Gao [Narcissus Paste] (see toxic carbuncle section), 100 shots, 100 on-target[4] . 脚气肿痛Jiǎo qì zhǒng tòng
Leg qi swelling pain
此症始于受湿,以及酒色劳伤,外感风寒冒热,忽然手足发冷发热,其气从脚下而起, 上冲心腹作痛。或头痛身痛,或胀闷、或呕吐、或昏迷,或大便闭塞,或两足胫红肿,寒热 如伤寒状。 This disease begins with damp exposure, as well as alcohol, excess sexual activity, taxation fatigue, exterior wind-cold or wind-heat invasion, suddenly [the] hands and feet [are] cold and hot, such qi begins from the bottom of the feet, [and] rushes up to the heart and abdomen [to cause] aches. Alternative [symptoms], headache and body pain, or distention-fullness, or nausea and vomiting, or loss of consciousness, or blocked stools, or two feet red and swollen, cold and heat resembling typhoid.
从此,或一月一发,半月、数月一发,渐渐四肢挛缩转筋,脚膝肿大。此为香港脚 ,非中风寒也。倘不知而误以伤寒中风治之,则为害不浅矣。 外治法∶白矾二两,地浆水十八碗,新杉木三、四片,煎六、七滚,用杉木桶(新者更 佳)盛一半浸脚,留一半徐徐添入,上用衣被围身,使略有微汗。洗完,随饮薄粥。如一 未愈,再洗二次,照前方加硫黄三钱,无不愈矣。 From here, may [see] one episode per month, half a month, or several months, gradually four limbs develop convulsions, leg and knees swell large. This is Hong Kong Foot, not wind-cold strike. If mistakenly treated as cold damage wind-strike, [there] will be harm [of] no shallow consequence. External treatment method: Bai Fan 2 liang, Di Jiang Shui 18 bowls, Xin Shan Mu 3-4 slices, decocted 6-7 gun[5], use Shan Mu Tong (fresh is better), use half to soak feet, save half and gradually add in [to the soak], [for] upper [body] use clothes and bedding to wrap body, causing slight sweat. After washing, drink thin congee. If one [course of treatment] does not heal, again wash twice, following previous formula, add Liu Huang 3 qian, [there are] none that do not heal.
取地浆水法∶于净土地上掘二三尺深, 新汲水倾入,搅浊,少俟澄定,取半清半浊者,吹去浮沫用之。 又方∶盐三斤,炒热,包裹痛处。并用一包以脚踏之,冷则随换,夜夜用之,以脚心热透为度。加槐白皮同炒更妙。 Using yellow earth water method: on clean earth dig 2-3 chi[6] deep, pour in clean well water, mix [until] turbid, wait shortly [until] clear [and] calm, take that which is half clear half turbid, blow away froth and use. Alternate formula: salt 3 jin [7] , stir-fry [until] hot, wrap around painful area and stand on the wrap, change as [wrap] cools, use every night, with [the] sole of the foot thoroughly warmed as [the] measure. Add Huai Bai Pi and stir-fry together for better effect.
又方∶用盐搽痛处,少时,用热水洗之。有人患香港脚,百药不效,后得此方除根。 又方∶ 旧砖烧红,以陈旧淘米水淬入,乘热布包三块,用膝夹住,棉被盖紧,冷则随换 三、五次即愈。又方∶茅山苍术煎酒服,即可行动。 又方∶见后腰臀腿膝疼痛苍术散方。 Alternate formula: use salt smear [on] painful area, [after] short time, rinse with hot water. Some people suffering from Hong Kong Foot, hundred herbs no effect, then receive this formula and cure once and for all. Alternate formula: old brick burnt [until] red, quench with mature old rice rinse water[8] , while still hot [use] three cloths to wrap, use knee to hold, cover tight with cotton quilt, change as [wrap] cools, 3-5 times will cure. Alternate formula; Cang Zhu from Mao Mountain wine-decoct [and] ingest, promptly can move around. Alternate formula: see low back, buttock, leg, and knee pain [sections] Cang Zhu San [Atractylodes Rhizome Powder].
脚气冲心 Jiǎo qì chōng xīn
Leg qi rushing to heart
木瓜、槟榔各二钱半,吴茱萸钱半,水煎服。或用黑豆一茶杯,甘草三钱,煎浓汁服更 妙。 又方∶黄芪五钱,水煎,一二服断根。 Mu Gua, Bing Lang each 2.5 qian, Wu Zhu Yu 1.5 qian, take as decoction. Alternatively use black bean 1 teacup, Gan Cao 3 qian, decoct into concentrated fluid then ingest [is] even better. Alternate formula: Huang Qi 5 qian, decoct with water, 1-2 doses intercept root [of disease].
脚气腿胫红痛 Jiǎo qì tuǐ jìng hóng tòng
Hong Kong foot, leg, and shin red and painful
凤仙花叶,枸杞叶,共煎浓汤熏洗,并生捣融敷之。 又方∶大田螺捣烂,敷之。 Feng Xian Hua leaf, Gou Qi leaf, together simmer into concentrated decoction [use as] steam bath, combine with raw [herbs] mashed smooth and apply. Alternate formula: mash big river snails and apply.
酒风脚 Jiǔ fēng jiǎo
Wine wind feet
此症发时,腿足肿痛难忍,因饮酒过多所致。百治不效,惟用绍兴老酒糟四两(无则用 本地陈老酒糟亦可),松针一两(即松毛),共捣烂,加顶好烧酒拌入,炒热敷之,用布包紧 ,冷则炒热再敷,日夜不断,敷至痛止乃已。一料只能敷三次,轻者三五料即愈,重者十余 料断根,永不复发,屡试如神。 又方∶苍术煎酒服,即时能行。 When this disease occurs, leg and foot swelling and pain difficult to bear, excessive consumption of wine is the cause. Hundred treatments no effect, but use Shaoxing mature wine lees[9] 4 liang (if none [from Shaoxing], then can use local mature wine lees, Song Zhen 1 liang (and Song Mao), mash together, add top notch white liquor [and] mix in, stir fry warm and apply, use cloth wrap tight, [once] cold then stir fry warm and reapply, night and day no break, apply until pain is stopped. One batch can only [be] applied three times, light [disease] three to five doses will resolve, severe [disease] ten doses to intercept root, never recur, repeatedly works miraculously. Alternate formula: Cang Zhu wine decoct [and] ingest, immediately can resolve.
腿足肿痛拘挛 Tuǐ zú zhǒng tòng jū luán
Leg and foot swelling, pain, and spasm
威灵仙,牛膝,二味各等分,为丸。空心开水服数十丸,或加酒服更好,忌服茶,久服其病若失。威灵仙疏真气,另服补剂以固本元。再威灵仙真者甚少,均系本之细者假充 ,以味极苦而色紫黑如黄连状,脆而不软,折之有细尘起,明视之断处有黑白晕,俗谓之鸲鹆眼,此数者备,然后为真,服之有奇验。 Wei Ling Xian, Niu Xi, 2 flavors each [in] equal parts, make [into] pills. Take 10 pills on an empty stomach with hot water, or add wine and take for better [effect]. Do not take with tea, taken over time, the disease will abate. Wei Ling Xian courses [the] Zhen Qi [true Qi], also taking tonifying formulas will consolidate the original root [Qi]. Nowadays real Wei Ling Xian is extremely rare, [those with] evenly [distributed] fine lines are imposters, [determine] according to extremely bitter flavor and purple-black color, shape like Huang Lian, brittle and not soft, break [a piece] and fine dust appears, obvious black and white rings at breaking point, commonly called myna eye, if these criteria are met, then it is real, ingest and [will have] marvelous effect.
两膝疼痛 Liǎng xī téng tòng
Pain in the two knees
名鹤膝风。风胜则走注作痛,寒胜则如锥刺痛,湿胜则肿。屈无力病在筋则伸,不能屈 在骨则移动维艰。久则日肿日粗,大腿日细,痛而无浓,颜色不变,成败症矣。宜早治之。 用新鲜白芷酒煮成膏,收贮瓷瓶。每日取膏二钱,陈酒送服,再取二三钱涂患处,至消乃止 。 Named He Xi Feng [Crane Knee Wind]. Wind predominant then ache, cold predominant then boring stabbing pain, damp predominant then swelling. [If] bend without strength, disease is in extending tendons; cannot bend [the disease] is in [the] bone, thus movement [is] bound and difficult. Chronic then gradually [become] swollen and coarse, thigh gradually [becomes] thin, [there is] pain without pus, color does not change, the disease carries on. [This condition] benefits from early treatment. Use fresh Bai Zhi wine-cooked and formed [into] paste, store in ceramic bottle. Each day take 2 qian paste, take with aged wine, then take 2-3 qian [and] spread over the disease area, continue until [the disease] disappears.
或内服阳和汤(见痈疽诸方)外用大戟、甘遂二味研末,白蜜调敷(或用白芥子末,酒调 敷 又方,首乌酒∶大何首乌煎酒服,以醉为度。更捣渣敷膝头,数次可愈。永远戒食鳅鱼 、黑鱼二物。 Alternatively take Yang He Tang internally (see all formulas for ulcers), and externally use Da Ji, Gan Sui two herbs powdered, mix [with] white honey [and] apply (or use Bai Jie Zi powder, mix [with] wine [and] apply. Alternate formula, Shou Wu Jiu: decoct big He Shou Wu, take with wine, with [becoming] drunk as the limit. Also mash [into] liquid [and] apply to knee, several times will heal. Permanently abstain from eating mahi and snakehead fish.
又方,四神煎∶生黄半斤,远志肉,牛膝各三两,石斛四两,用水十碗煎二碗,再入 金银花一两,煎一碗,一气服之。服后觉两腿如火之热,即盖暖睡,汗出如雨,待汗散后, 缓缓去被,忌风。一服病去大半,再服除根,不论久近皆效。 Alternate formula, Si Shen Jian: raw Huang Qi half jin, Yuan Zhi, Niu Xi each 3 liang, Shi Hu 4 liang, use water 10 bowls decoct into 2 bowls, then add Jin Yin Hua 1 liang, decoct into 1 bowl, take as one dose. After ingesting, feel as two legs are hot as fire, then sleep with warm bed covers, sweat like rain, after sweating disperses, moderately decrease bed covers, avoid wind. One dose, disease will decrease by more than half, take again to eliminate the root [of disease], effective whether chronic [or] acute.
又方,五圣散∶乳香、没药各一两五钱,地骨皮、无名异各五钱,麝香一分,为末,车前草捣汁入煮酒调敷患处。有人患此五年,敷至三日全愈。 Alternate formula, Wu Sheng San: Ru Xiang, Mo Yao each 1 liang and 5 qian, Di Gu Pi, Wu Ming Yi each 5 qian, She Xiang 1 fen[10] , powdered, add juice [from] mashed Che Qian Cao to cooked wine [to] form mixture [and] apply to diseased area. There have been people affected for five years, apply [this] for three days and fully recover.
膝上生痈 Xī shàng shēng yōng
Carbuncles sprouting on knees
名牛头痈,肿而红者是。连须葱头切碎,用糯米饭乘热拌敷,重者五六次必消。或照痈 毒各方治之。 Named Bull's Head Carbuncle, it is swollen and red. Lian Xu [and] Cong Tou, mince, use glutinous rice while hot to form mixture, severe [disease] 5-6 times will disperse. Or use toxic carbuncle formulas to treat.
腿膝疼痛不能举步 Tuǐ xī téng tòng bù néng jǔ bù
Leg and knee pain, cannot walk
山楂肉、白蒺藜各等分,蒸晒为末,蜜丸梧子大。每服三钱,白汤下,服一二斤,无不 愈者。 Shan Zha, Bai Ji Li each [in] equal parts, steam and sun-dry [then] powder, form honey pills big as Wu Zi [Chinese parasoltree seed]. Each [time] take 3 qian with Bai Tang[11] , [after] taking 1-2 jin, none who do not recover.
人面疮 Rén miàn chuāng
Human face sore
此疮生在两膝,亦有生在两手弯者,眼口能动能食,此系冤孽所致,急宜改过诚心告解。再用雷丸三钱,轻粉、真茯苓各一钱,各为细末,敷上即愈。此岐伯天师方也。 又方∶贝母末敷之亦效。并参看阴疽孽报(见阴疽门末)。 This sore grows on [the] two knees, there are also [ those that] grow on [the] elbows, [appears as if the sore has] eyes [that] can move [and a] mouth [that] can eat[12] , this [sore is] caused by sin, should urgently correct [with] sincere confession and repentance. Then use Lei Wan [omphalia lapidescenes horan] 3 qian, Qing Fen, true Fu Ling each 1 qian, each as fine powder, apply will heal. This [is] Qi Bo Tian Shi Fang [Qi Bo heaven master formula]. Alternate formula: Bei Mu powder applied also effective. Also consult Yin abscess consequence (see end [of] Yin abscess section).
脚上转筋 Jiǎo shàng zhuàn jīn
Foot spasm
暑天腹痛转筋名霍乱症,见霍乱门。 黄蜡半斤,融化,摊旧绸上,随患大小,乘热缠脚,须当脚心,便着袜裹之,冷则随换 。并贴两手心。 Summer days abdominal pain [and] spasm named Huo Luan[13] disease, see Huo Luan section. Huang La [yellow wax] half jin, melt, must treat sole of foot, wrap with sock, change as [wrap] cools. Simultaneously [apply] paste [to the] two palms.
腿痛转筋气冲入腹 Tuǐ tòng zhuàn jīn qì chōng rù fù
Leg pain transfer, Qi rush into abdomen
此寒极也。若不急治,痛冲入心难救。急用木瓜、茱萸各二钱,食盐五分,水煎服,即愈。 又方∶锅底烟子(以烧草者为佳)一钱和酒服。 又方∶用河边大水后所挂树上浮苹,煎洗二三次即愈。 This [is] extreme cold. If not treated urgently, disease [will] rush into [the] heart [and be] difficult to rescue. Urgently use Mu Gua, Zhu Yu each 2 qian, table salt 5 fen, water decoct [and] ingest, will recover. Alternate formula: pot bottom soot (burnt grass is ideal) 1 qian ingest with wine. Alternate formula: use Fu Ping [spirodela] hanging [from] riverside trees after flood, decoct [and use as] herbal wash, 2-3 times will cure.
腿面疮 Tuǐ miàn chuāng
Shin Sore
生小腿面。此疮多因湿热而起,又被手甲风毒抓伤,破烂淋漓,缠绵不已,欲求速愈, 切忌手抓,自易痊也。初起者用浓茶洗净,再用好干茶叶嚼融(将口漱净再嚼)敷之。 又方∶龙眼核(桂圆核亦可)去核外之皮,研细,用油调敷。 又方∶木耳瓦上焙枯,研末敷。 以上三方如不见效,即照后方治之。 Begins on shin. This sore [is] often caused by damp heat, also by wind toxin [with] fingernail excoriation; [it is] ulcerated, weepy, [and] lingers endlessly, [one will] desire [to] seek rapid cure; avoid scratching, [and] illness will recover easily on its own. [In] early stage, use concentrated tea [to] wash clean, then use chewed-up quality dried tea leaves (rinse mouth clean before chewing) and apply. Alternate formula: Long Yan He [Longan pit] (Gui Yuan He also acceptable), remove the pit’s outer skin, grind finely, mix with oil [and] apply. Alternate formula: wood ear baked dry, powdered [and] apply. If no results are seen with the above three formulas, then treat according to the following formula.
白油膏∶ 治疮数十年不愈者,数日即可收功,捷如影响。并治秃头疮、坐板疮及一切 年久湿热诸疮、脓血不止,久不收口等症。此方百发百中,神妙非常,乃疮第一方也。真 桐油三两,防风、白芷各钱半,放油内泡一夜,入铁器内,慢火敷枯,去药沥净渣,将油再 熬。 Bai You Gao [White Oil Ointment]: treats sores [that have] lasted over 10 years without cure, several days can receive results, prompt effects. Also treats unsurfaced sores, seat sores and all chronic damp-heat sores, incessant pus and blood, chronically unclosed sores, etc. This formula 100 shots, 100 on-target, very miraculous, [it] is [the] number one formula for sores. Real Tong You [tung oil] 3 liang, Fang Feng, Bai Zhi each 1.5 qian, add oil and soak one night, place in ironware, low fire [until] surface [is] dried, remove the herbs [and] strain dregs completely, then again simmer oil.
俟欲开时,用鸡蛋一个去壳,放油内炸至深黄色,去蛋不用。再将油慢熬,俟油色极明 ,能照见人须眉,入白蜡六分,黄蜡四分溶化。赶紧用竹纸十余纸,乘热浸入油内,一张一 放一起,冷透火气。须张张隔开,风前吹透,若放在一处,虽数日火气难退,粘贴毒瓦斯内逼 ,难以收功。 Wait until just before [the oil] boils, add one chicken egg, shell removed, place into oil [and] fry until deep yellow color, remove the egg, do not use [it]. Then gently simmer, until oil [is] extremely clear, [and one] can see a person’s reflection, [then] melt in Bai La [white wax] 6 fen, Huang La [yellow wax] 4 fen. Immediately use bamboo paper approximately 10 sheets, dip in oil while still warm, one sheet [at a time], dip in [and] lift up, [allow] heat [to] cool completely. Must separate each sheet, [and] allow wind [to] blow through; if placed together, even if [allowed to cool] many days [the] heat [will be] difficult [to] dissipate, then [when] applied, toxin [will be] driven interiorly, difficult to receive results.
视疮大小,裁纸粘贴,顷刻脓粘满纸,弃去再换,一日换十余次,数日脓尽, 肉满生肌(脓尽后不贴,亦可生肌),脓多者黄蜡六分,白蜡五分,不生肌者白蜡六分,黄蜡五分,不得稍有增减。 Inspect sore's size, cut paper [to size], apply [and] instantly pus [will] stick to [and] fill paper, discard and change, one day change approximately 10 times, several days pus [will] stop, flesh [become] full [and] tissue regenerate ([after] pus stops do not apply [anymore], then tissue can regenerate), for excessive pus Huang La 6 fen, Bai La 5 fen, for no tissue regeneration Bai La 6 fen, Huang La 5 fen, do not [even] slightly increase or decrease [dosage].
黄香膏: 治疮,屡试如神,并治一切痈毒大疮、日久不愈亦效。松香白水煮透,取出 放冷水内搓洗数十下,再煮再洗,如此九次,倒地待冷取起。每一两加轻粉三钱,银朱一钱 ,白蜜少许,炼老成珠,加菜油少许,炖热搅匀,看疮之大小作饼,置疮上,将绸条扎住。 一周时取下,用滚水搓洗极净,翻转再贴,周时取下,再洗再贴。只要一个药饼直贴到好, 不须另换。 Huang Xiang Gao [Yellow Aromatic Ointment]: treats sores, repeatedly works like magic, also treats all toxic carbuncle big sores, also effective for chronically unhealed [sores]. Song Xiang [rosin] cook thoroughly [in] water, remove, place [in] cold water wash [and] rub 10 times, again cook and rinse, repeat this 9 times, pour [onto] ground, wait [until] cold [to] pick up. For each liang, add Qing Fen [calomel] 3 qian, Ying Zhu [mercury sulfide] 1 qian, a little white honey, condense long [until] pearls form[14] , add a little vegetable oil, heat and simmer, stir [to mix] evenly, look at size of [the] sore to make cake, place on sore, wrap with silk strip. Remove [after] one week, use boiling water [to] rub and wash very clean, reverse [and] again adhere, remove [after] one week, again wash and adhere. Only need one herbal cake applied directly until cured, another change [is] not required.
When sore [is] cured, wash the herbal cake [and] store well, if encountering this sore again, give to others to adhere, still at one week, wash and adhere. After treating three people, this cake will be very good, if [used to] treat ten people, [it] will heal even quicker, marvelous [and] wonderful cure.
夹纸膏∶专治疮。樟脑三钱,铜绿一钱,用猪板油和药捣烂,以油纸夹之贴患处一二日,翻转贴三四日,脓尽而愈。如四日后脓尚未尽,再换一纸,无不愈矣。 Jia Zhi Gao [Wedged Paper Ointment]: specialized [to] treat sores. Zhang Nao [camphor] 3 qian, Tonɡ Lü [malachite] 1 qian, use Zhu Ban You [lard] and herbs, mashed, soak paper with oil and place on diseased area one [to] two days, reverse and adhere three [to] four days, [when] pus stops then cured. If after four days the pus has not stopped, again change paper, none that do not heal.
腿脚浮肿破烂似疮而非疮 Tuǐ jiǎo fú zhǒng pò làn shì chuāng ér fēi chuāng
Leg and foot edema and erosion resembling sore but not sore
有人腿脚浮肿破烂十余年不愈,后用生黄豆,将口漱净,自行嚼烂敷之,数日全愈。 Some people [have] leg [and] feet edema and erosion for more than ten years without recovery, then use raw soybeans, rinse [the] opening clean, chew to mash and apply, complete recovery [in] several days.
腿上生疮破烂多孔 Tuǐ shàng shēng chuāng pò làn duō kǒng
Sore sprouting on leg with erosion and many openings
照疮方治之。如不见效,用凤仙花连根叶熬水洗,数日必愈。 Treat according to formulas [for] sores. If results not seen, use Feng Xian Hua including root and leaf decoct [and] rinse, recovery certain [in] several days.
腿足忽然红肿热痛或时上时下或烂或不烂 Tuǐ zú hū rán hóng zhǒng rè tòng huò shí shàng shí xià huò làn huò bù làn
Leg and foot suddenly red, swollen, hot pain, sometimes up sometimes down, erosion or no erosion
此游风丹毒也。用清凉膏(见汤火伤门)敷之,忌食鲜肉半月,其效如神。此林屋山人经验方也。 This [is] traveling wind cinnabar toxin[15] . Apply Qing Liang Gao (see burns section), avoid eating seafood [and] meat [for] half-month, the result [is] like magic.This [is] mountain hermit’s empirical formula.
腿面不红不肿痛极难忍 Tuǐ miàn bù hóng bu zhǒng tòng jí nán rěn
Shin not red not swollen but extreme pain difficult to endure
此症他人按之极冷,病患只叫腿热,此湿热伏于经络也。用马兰膏(见游风丹毒门)敷 之神效,或照游风丹毒各方治之。如病人不叫腿热,恐是附骨疽症,须辨别施治为妥。 This syndrome others attribute to extreme cold, patient only [complains of] leg heat, this [is] damp-heat lurking in [the] Jing Luo[16] . Use Ma Lan Gao (see traveling wind red toxin section), apply for miraculous effect, or follow traveling wind cinnabar toxin formulas to treat. If patient does not [complain of] leg heat, [the] fear is bone flat-abscess disease[17] , must appropriately differentiate [and] execute treatment.

坐板疮 Zuò bǎn chuāng
Seat sores [literally “sitting board sores”]
此症又名风疳,生股上,延及两腿,缠绵不已,形如黍豆,色红作痒,甚则赤肿痛。 初起用芫花、川椒、黄柏,煎水洗,即消。已破者,无论干湿,照疥疮各方治之。湿甚者, 照黄水疮(均见痈诸方)治之。久不愈者,马苋膏(用痈毒诸方)最效。或用白油膏(见腿部)。治之,更妙。
This disease [is] also called Feng Gan [wind chancre], grows from the buttocks and extends to the two legs, lingers incessantly, shaped like millet, red and itchy; [when] becoming severe, redness, swelling, and pain [present]. In [the] initial stage, use [decocted] Yuan Hua, Chuan Jiao, Huang Bai, wash with decoction, [and the sores] will disappear. For broken [sores], regardless if dry or wet, treat using the formulas for scabies. [For] severe weeping sores, treat according to impetigo (see all carbuncle formulas). [For] long unhealed [sores], Ma Xian Ointment (see all toxic carbuncle formulas) [is] most effective. Or use White Oil Ointment (see leg section), treatment [will have] great effect.
股上生疮 Gǔ shàng shēng chuāng
Sores sprouting on buttocks
生股上者名臀尖,亦有生两旁者,色红肿照痈毒各方治之,色白者照阴疽各方治之。
[Sores] sprouting on the buttocks are named Tun Jian, also there are [sores] sprouting from the two sides, treat red swellings with the toxic carbuncle formulas, treat white [sores] with Yin abscess formulas.

悬痈 Xuán yōng
Suspended carbuncle
又名骑马痈,生在海底,初起细粒,渐大如桃李,俗呼偷粪老鼠。溃烂之后,一经房事 走漏,即成漏生管,体弱者患之更危。诸漏宜医,独此难治,治则漏管愈大难救。未成脓时 ,用生甘草、熟大黄各三钱,酒煎空心服,一剂即愈。
Also called Riding Horse Carbuncle, sprouts from [the] seabed, begins as a fine grain, [and] gradually [grows] as big as a peach or plum, lay people call [it] dung-stealing mouse. After ulcerating, upon divulging in sexual activity, the sore will form [a] fistula [literally “leaky tube”], weak patients suffering from [this condition are in] more danger. All leaks should [seek] medicine, this condition alone is difficult [to] treat, treat then fistula [will be] more difficult to rescue. Before pus forms, use raw Gan Cao, Shu Da Huang each three qian [2] [~0.9 grams ], wine-decocted and taken on an empty stomach, one course of treatment will cure.
如已成脓,服醒消丸即愈。倘患色白者,服小金丹即愈。此林屋山人秘方也。 又方∶用横纹生甘草一两,截数断,用水泡透,文火烘干,再泡再烘,以中心水润为止 ,切细,加当归一两,用酒煎服,日服一次,半月后方能消尽。 又方∶溃烂,久不收口、未生管者,用水仙膏(见痈毒通治门)敷之,百发百中。已生管者,照痈毒门诸疮生管各方治之。
If pus [has] already formed, taking Xing Xiao Wan [Awake and Disperse Pill] will cure. If the diseased [area is] colored white, take Xiao Jin Dan [Minor Golden Elixir] [for] quick recovery. This is a secret formula from mountain hermit. Alternate formula: use striped raw Gan Cao 1 liang [3] , cut into many sections, soak thoroughly with water, then dry [over a] slow fire, repeat soaking and drying until [only] the middle is moist, then chop [into] fine [pieces], add Dang Gui 1 liang, decoct with wine and take one per day, after half [a] month, [the] formula can be finished. Alternate formula: [for] ulcerated [sores that] chronically do not close, not yet fistulated, apply Shui Xian Gao [Narcissus Paste] (see toxic carbuncle section), 100 shots, 100 on-target[4] . 脚气肿痛 Jiǎo qì zhǒng tòng
Leg qi swelling pain
此症始于受湿,以及酒色劳伤,外感风寒冒热,忽然手足发冷发热,其气从脚下而起, 上冲心腹作痛。或头痛身痛,或胀闷、或呕吐、或昏迷,或大便闭塞,或两足胫红肿,寒热 如伤寒状。This disease begins with damp exposure, as well as alcohol, excess sexual activity, taxation fatigue, exterior wind-cold or wind-heat invasion, suddenly [the] hands and feet [are] cold and hot, such qi begins from the bottom of the feet, [and] rushes up to the heart and abdomen [to cause] aches. Alternative [symptoms], headache and body pain, or distention-fullness, or nausea and vomiting, or loss of consciousness, or blocked stools, or two feet red and swollen, cold and heat resembling typhoid.
从此,或一月一发,半月、数月一发,渐渐四肢挛缩转筋,脚膝肿大。此为香港脚 ,非中风寒也。倘不知而误以伤寒中风治之,则为害不浅矣。 外治法∶白矾二两,地浆水十八碗,新杉木三、四片,煎六、七滚,用杉木桶(新者更 佳)盛一半浸脚,留一半徐徐添入,上用衣被围身,使略有微汗。洗完,随饮薄粥。如一 未愈,再洗二次,照前方加硫黄三钱,无不愈矣。
From here, may [see] one episode per month, half a month, or several months, gradually four limbs develop convulsions, leg and knees swell large. This is Hong Kong Foot, not wind-cold strike. If mistakenly treated as cold damage wind-strike, [there] will be harm [of] no shallow consequence. External treatment method: Bai Fan 2 liang, Di Jiang Shui 18 bowls, Xin Shan Mu 3-4 slices, decocted 6-7 gun[5] , use Shan Mu Tong (fresh is better), use half to soak feet, save half and gradually add in [to the soak], [for] upper [body] use clothes and bedding to wrap body, causing slight sweat. After washing, drink thin congee. If one [course of treatment] does not heal, again wash twice, following previous formula, add Liu Huang 3 qian, [there are] none that do not heal.
取地浆水法∶于净土地上掘二三尺深, 新汲水倾入,搅浊,少俟澄定,取半清半浊者,吹去浮沫用之。 又方∶盐三斤,炒热,包裹痛处。并用一包以脚踏之,冷则随换,夜夜用之,以脚心热透为度。加槐白皮同炒更妙。
Using yellow earth water method: on clean earth dig 2-3 chi [6] deep, pour in clean well water, mix [until] turbid, wait shortly [until] clear [and] calm, take that which is half clear half turbid, blow away froth and use. Alternate formula: salt 3 jin [7] , stir-fry [until] hot, wrap around painful area and stand on the wrap, change as [wrap] cools, use every night, with [the] sole of the foot thoroughly warmed as [the] measure. Add Huai Bai Pi and stir-fry together for better effect.
又方∶用盐搽痛处,少时,用热水洗之。有人患香港脚,百药不效,后得此方除根。 又方∶ 旧砖烧红,以陈旧淘米水淬入,乘热布包三块,用膝夹住,棉被盖紧,冷则随换 三、五次即愈。又方∶茅山苍术煎酒服,即可行动。 又方∶见后腰臀腿膝疼痛苍术散方。
Alternate formula: use salt smear [on] painful area, [after] short time, rinse with hot water. Some people suffering from Hong Kong Foot, hundred herbs no effect, then receive this formula and cure once and for all. Alternate formula: old brick burnt [until] red, quench with mature old rice rinse water[8] , while still hot [use] three cloths to wrap, use knee to hold, cover tight with cotton quilt, change as [wrap] cools, 3-5 times will cure. Alternate formula; Cang Zhu from Mao Mountain wine-decoct [and] ingest, promptly can move around. Alternate formula: see low back, buttock, leg, and knee pain [sections] Cang Zhu San [Atractylodes Rhizome Powder].
脚气冲心 Jiǎo qì chōng xīn
Leg qi rushing to heart
木瓜、槟榔各二钱半,吴茱萸钱半,水煎服。或用黑豆一茶杯,甘草三钱,煎浓汁服更 妙。 又方∶黄芪五钱,水煎,一二服断根。Mu Gua, Bing Lang each 2.5 qian, Wu Zhu Yu 1.5 qian, take as decoction. Alternatively use black bean 1 teacup, Gan Cao 3 qian, decoct into concentrated fluid then ingest [is] even better. Alternate formula: Huang Qi 5 qian, decoct with water, 1-2 doses intercept root [of disease].
脚气腿胫红痛 Jiǎo qì tuǐ jìng hóng tòng
Hong Kong foot, leg, and shin red and painful
凤仙花叶,枸杞叶,共煎浓汤熏洗,并生捣融敷之。 又方∶大田螺捣烂,敷之。Feng Xian Hua leaf, Gou Qi leaf, together simmer into concentrated decoction [use as] steam bath, combine with raw [herbs] mashed smooth and apply. Alternate formula: mash big river snails and apply.
酒风脚 Jiǔ fēng jiǎo
Wine wind feet
此症发时,腿足肿痛难忍,因饮酒过多所致。百治不效,惟用绍兴老酒糟四两(无则用 本地陈老酒糟亦可),松针一两(即松毛),共捣烂,加顶好烧酒拌入,炒热敷之,用布包紧 ,冷则炒热再敷,日夜不断,敷至痛止乃已。一料只能敷三次,轻者三五料即愈,重者十余 料断根,永不复发,屡试如神。 又方∶苍术煎酒服,即时能行。When this disease occurs, leg and foot swelling and pain difficult to bear, excessive consumption of wine is the cause. Hundred treatments no effect, but use Shaoxing mature wine lees[9] 4 liang (if none [from Shaoxing], then can use local mature wine lees, Song Zhen 1 liang (and Song Mao), mash together, add top notch white liquor [and] mix in, stir fry warm and apply, use cloth wrap tight, [once] cold then stir fry warm and reapply, night and day no break, apply until pain is stopped. One batch can only [be] applied three times, light [disease] three to five doses will resolve, severe [disease] ten doses to intercept root, never recur, repeatedly works miraculously. Alternate formula: Cang Zhu wine decoct [and] ingest, immediately can resolve.
腿足肿痛拘挛 Tuǐ zú zhǒng tòng jū luán
Leg and foot swelling, pain, and spasm
威灵仙,牛膝,二味各等分,为丸。空心开水服数十丸,或加酒服更好,忌服茶,久服其病若失。威灵仙疏真气,另服补剂以固本元。再威灵仙真者甚少,均系本之细者假充 ,以味极苦而色紫黑如黄连状,脆而不软,折之有细尘起,明视之断处有黑白晕,俗谓之鸲鹆眼,此数者备,然后为真,服之有奇验。Wei Ling Xian, Niu Xi, 2 flavors each [in] equal parts, make [into] pills. Take 10 pills on an empty stomach with hot water, or add wine and take for better [effect]. Do not take with tea, taken over time, the disease will abate. Wei Ling Xian courses [the] Zhen Qi [true Qi], also taking tonifying formulas will consolidate the original root [Qi]. Nowadays real Wei Ling Xian is extremely rare, [those with] evenly [distributed] fine lines are imposters, [determine] according to extremely bitter flavor and purple-black color, shape like Huang Lian, brittle and not soft, break [a piece] and fine dust appears, obvious black and white rings at breaking point, commonly called myna eye, if these criteria are met, then it is real, ingest and [will have] marvelous effect.
两膝疼痛 Liǎng xī téng tòng
Pain in the two knees
名鹤膝风。风胜则走注作痛,寒胜则如锥刺痛,湿胜则肿。屈无力病在筋则伸,不能屈 在骨则移动维艰。久则日肿日粗,大腿日细,痛而无浓,颜色不变,成败症矣。宜早治之。 用新鲜白芷酒煮成膏,收贮瓷瓶。每日取膏二钱,陈酒送服,再取二三钱涂患处,至消乃止 。Named He Xi Feng [Crane Knee Wind]. Wind predominant then ache, cold predominant then boring stabbing pain, damp predominant then swelling. [If] bend without strength, disease is in extending tendons; cannot bend [the disease] is in [the] bone, thus movement [is] bound and difficult. Chronic then gradually [become] swollen and coarse, thigh gradually [becomes] thin, [there is] pain without pus, color does not change, the disease carries on. [This condition] benefits from early treatment. Use fresh Bai Zhi wine-cooked and formed [into] paste, store in ceramic bottle. Each day take 2 qian paste, take with aged wine, then take 2-3 qian [and] spread over the disease area, continue until [the disease] disappears.
或内服阳和汤(见痈疽诸方)外用大戟、甘遂二味研末,白蜜调敷(或用白芥子末,酒调 敷 又方,首乌酒∶大何首乌煎酒服,以醉为度。更捣渣敷膝头,数次可愈。永远戒食鳅鱼 、黑鱼二物。
Alternatively take Yang He Tang internally (see all formulas for ulcers), and externally use Da Ji, Gan Sui two herbs powdered, mix [with] white honey [and] apply (or use Bai Jie Zi powder, mix [with] wine [and] apply. Alternate formula, Shou Wu Jiu: decoct big He Shou Wu, take with wine, with [becoming] drunk as the limit. Also mash [into] liquid [and] apply to knee, several times will heal. Permanently abstain from eating mahi and snakehead fish.
又方,四神煎∶生黄半斤,远志肉,牛膝各三两,石斛四两,用水十碗煎二碗,再入 金银花一两,煎一碗,一气服之。服后觉两腿如火之热,即盖暖睡,汗出如雨,待汗散后, 缓缓去被,忌风。一服病去大半,再服除根,不论久近皆效。
Alternate formula, Si Shen Jian: raw Huang Qi half jin, Yuan Zhi, Niu Xi each 3 liang, Shi Hu 4 liang, use water 10 bowls decoct into 2 bowls, then add Jin Yin Hua 1 liang, decoct into 1 bowl, take as one dose. After ingesting, feel as two legs are hot as fire, then sleep with warm bed covers, sweat like rain, after sweating disperses, moderately decrease bed covers, avoid wind. One dose, disease will decrease by more than half, take again to eliminate the root [of disease], effective whether chronic [or] acute.
又方,五圣散∶乳香、没药各一两五钱,地骨皮、无名异各五钱,麝香一分,为末,车前草捣汁入煮酒调敷患处。有人患此五年,敷至三日全愈。
Alternate formula, Wu Sheng San: Ru Xiang, Mo Yao each 1 liang and 5 qian, Di Gu Pi, Wu Ming Yi each 5 qian, She Xiang 1 fen[10] , powdered, add juice [from] mashed Che Qian Cao to cooked wine [to] form mixture [and] apply to diseased area. There have been people affected for five years, apply [this] for three days and fully recover.
膝上生痈 Xī shàng shēng yōng
Carbuncles sprouting on knees
名牛头痈,肿而红者是。连须葱头切碎,用糯米饭乘热拌敷,重者五六次必消。或照痈 毒各方治之。Named Bull's Head Carbuncle, it is swollen and red. Lian Xu [and] Cong Tou, mince, use glutinous rice while hot to form mixture, severe [disease] 5-6 times will disperse. Or use toxic carbuncle formulas to treat.
腿膝疼痛不能举步 Tuǐ xī téng tòng bù néng jǔ bù
Leg and knee pain, cannot walk
山楂肉、白蒺藜各等分,蒸晒为末,蜜丸梧子大。每服三钱,白汤下,服一二斤,无不 愈者。Shan Zha, Bai Ji Li each [in] equal parts, steam and sun-dry [then] powder, form honey pills big as Wu Zi [Chinese parasoltree seed]. Each [time] take 3 qian with Bai Tang[11] , [after] taking 1-2 jin, none who do not recover.
人面疮 Rén miàn chuāng
Human face sore
此疮生在两膝,亦有生在两手弯者,眼口能动能食,此系冤孽所致,急宜改过诚心告解。再用雷丸三钱,轻粉、真茯苓各一钱,各为细末,敷上即愈。此岐伯天师方也。 又方∶贝母末敷之亦效。并参看阴疽孽报(见阴疽门末)。This sore grows on [the] two knees, there are also [ those that] grow on [the] elbows, [appears as if the sore has] eyes [that] can move [and a] mouth [that] can eat[12] , this [sore is] caused by sin, should urgently correct [with] sincere confession and repentance. Then use Lei Wan [omphalia lapidescenes horan] 3 qian, Qing Fen, true Fu Ling each 1 qian, each as fine powder, apply will heal. This [is] Qi Bo Tian Shi Fang [Qi Bo heaven master formula]. Alternate formula: Bei Mu powder applied also effective. Also consult Yin abscess consequence (see end [of] Yin abscess section).
脚上转筋 Jiǎo shàng zhuàn jīn
Foot spasm
暑天腹痛转筋名霍乱症,见霍乱门。 黄蜡半斤,融化,摊旧绸上,随患大小,乘热缠脚,须当脚心,便着袜裹之,冷则随换 。并贴两手心。Summer days abdominal pain [and] spasm named Huo Luan[13] disease, see Huo Luan section. Huang La [yellow wax] half jin, melt, must treat sole of foot, wrap with sock, change as [wrap] cools. Simultaneously [apply] paste [to the] two palms.
腿痛转筋气冲入腹 Tuǐ tòng zhuàn jīn qì chōng rù fù
Leg pain transfer, Qi rush into abdomen
此寒极也。若不急治,痛冲入心难救。急用木瓜、茱萸各二钱,食盐五分,水煎服,即愈。 又方∶锅底烟子(以烧草者为佳)一钱和酒服。 又方∶用河边大水后所挂树上浮苹,煎洗二三次即愈。This [is] extreme cold. If not treated urgently, disease [will] rush into [the] heart [and be] difficult to rescue. Urgently use Mu Gua, Zhu Yu each 2 qian, table salt 5 fen, water decoct [and] ingest, will recover. Alternate formula: pot bottom soot (burnt grass is ideal) 1 qian ingest with wine. Alternate formula: use Fu Ping [spirodela] hanging [from] riverside trees after flood, decoct [and use as] herbal wash, 2-3 times will cure.
腿面疮 Tuǐ miàn chuāng
Shin Sore
生小腿面。此疮多因湿热而起,又被手甲风毒抓伤,破烂淋漓,缠绵不已,欲求速愈, 切忌手抓,自易痊也。初起者用浓茶洗净,再用好干茶叶嚼融(将口漱净再嚼)敷之。 又方∶龙眼核(桂圆核亦可)去核外之皮,研细,用油调敷。 又方∶木耳瓦上焙枯,研末敷。 以上三方如不见效,即照后方治之。Begins on shin. This sore [is] often caused by damp heat, also by wind toxin [with] fingernail excoriation; [it is] ulcerated, weepy, [and] lingers endlessly, [one will] desire [to] seek rapid cure; avoid scratching, [and] illness will recover easily on its own. [In] early stage, use concentrated tea [to] wash clean, then use chewed-up quality dried tea leaves (rinse mouth clean before chewing) and apply. Alternate formula: Long Yan He [Longan pit] (Gui Yuan He also acceptable), remove the pit’s outer skin, grind finely, mix with oil [and] apply. Alternate formula: wood ear baked dry, powdered [and] apply. If no results are seen with the above three formulas, then treat according to the following formula.
白油膏∶ 治疮数十年不愈者,数日即可收功,捷如影响。并治秃头疮、坐板疮及一切 年久湿热诸疮、脓血不止,久不收口等症。此方百发百中,神妙非常,乃疮第一方也。真 桐油三两,防风、白芷各钱半,放油内泡一夜,入铁器内,慢火敷枯,去药沥净渣,将油再 熬。
Bai You Gao [White Oil Ointment]: treats sores [that have] lasted over 10 years without cure, several days can receive results, prompt effects. Also treats unsurfaced sores, seat sores and all chronic damp-heat sores, incessant pus and blood, chronically unclosed sores, etc. This formula 100 shots, 100 on-target, very miraculous, [it] is [the] number one formula for sores. Real Tong You [tung oil] 3 liang, Fang Feng, Bai Zhi each 1.5 qian, add oil and soak one night, place in ironware, low fire [until] surface [is] dried, remove the herbs [and] strain dregs completely, then again simmer oil.
俟欲开时,用鸡蛋一个去壳,放油内炸至深黄色,去蛋不用。再将油慢熬,俟油色极明 ,能照见人须眉,入白蜡六分,黄蜡四分溶化。赶紧用竹纸十余纸,乘热浸入油内,一张一 放一起,冷透火气。须张张隔开,风前吹透,若放在一处,虽数日火气难退,粘贴毒瓦斯内逼 ,难以收功。
Wait until just before [the oil] boils, add one chicken egg, shell removed, place into oil [and] fry until deep yellow color, remove the egg, do not use [it]. Then gently simmer, until oil [is] extremely clear, [and one] can see a person’s reflection, [then] melt in Bai La [white wax] 6 fen, Huang La [yellow wax] 4 fen. Immediately use bamboo paper approximately 10 sheets, dip in oil while still warm, one sheet [at a time], dip in [and] lift up, [allow] heat [to] cool completely. Must separate each sheet, [and] allow wind [to] blow through; if placed together, even if [allowed to cool] many days [the] heat [will be] difficult [to] dissipate, then [when] applied, toxin [will be] driven interiorly, difficult to receive results.
视疮大小,裁纸粘贴,顷刻脓粘满纸,弃去再换,一日换十余次,数日脓尽, 肉满生肌(脓尽后不贴,亦可生肌),脓多者黄蜡六分,白蜡五分,不生肌者白蜡六分,黄蜡五分,不得稍有增减。
Inspect sore's size, cut paper [to size], apply [and] instantly pus [will] stick to [and] fill paper, discard and change, one day change approximately 10 times, several days pus [will] stop, flesh [become] full [and] tissue regenerate ([after] pus stops do not apply [anymore], then tissue can regenerate), for excessive pus Huang La 6 fen, Bai La 5 fen, for no tissue regeneration Bai La 6 fen, Huang La 5 fen, do not [even] slightly increase or decrease [dosage].
黄香膏: 治疮,屡试如神,并治一切痈毒大疮、日久不愈亦效。松香白水煮透,取出 放冷水内搓洗数十下,再煮再洗,如此九次,倒地待冷取起。每一两加轻粉三钱,银朱一钱 ,白蜜少许,炼老成珠,加菜油少许,炖热搅匀,看疮之大小作饼,置疮上,将绸条扎住。 一周时取下,用滚水搓洗极净,翻转再贴,周时取下,再洗再贴。只要一个药饼直贴到好, 不须另换。
Huang Xiang Gao [Yellow Aromatic Ointment]: treats sores, repeatedly works like magic, also treats all toxic carbuncle big sores, also effective for chronically unhealed [sores]. Song Xiang [rosin] cook thoroughly [in] water, remove, place [in] cold water wash [and] rub 10 times, again cook and rinse, repeat this 9 times, pour [onto] ground, wait [until] cold [to] pick up. For each liang, add Qing Fen [calomel] 3 qian, Ying Zhu [mercury sulfide] 1 qian, a little white honey, condense long [until] pearls form[14] , add a little vegetable oil, heat and simmer, stir [to mix] evenly, look at size of [the] sore to make cake, place on sore, wrap with silk strip. Remove [after] one week, use boiling water [to] rub and wash very clean, reverse [and] again adhere, remove [after] one week, again wash and adhere. Only need one herbal cake applied directly until cured, another change [is] not required.
待疮好,将此药饼洗净收好,如遇此疮,再与别人贴,仍前一周时一洗一贴。此 饼若医过三人之后,粘贴即好,若医过十人,粘贴更能速愈,奇绝妙绝。
When sore [is] cured, wash the herbal cake [and] store well, if encountering this sore again, give to others to adhere, still at one week, wash and adhere. After treating three people, this cake will be very good, if [used to] treat ten people, [it] will heal even quicker, marvelous [and] wonderful cure.
夹纸膏∶专治疮。樟脑三钱,铜绿一钱,用猪板油和药捣烂,以油纸夹之贴患处一二日,翻转贴三四日,脓尽而愈。如四日后脓尚未尽,再换一纸,无不愈矣。
Jia Zhi Gao [Wedged Paper Ointment]: specialized [to] treat sores. Zhang Nao [camphor] 3 qian, Tonɡ Lü [malachite] 1 qian, use Zhu Ban You [lard] and herbs, mashed, soak paper with oil and place on diseased area one [to] two days, reverse and adhere three [to] four days, [when] pus stops then cured. If after four days the pus has not stopped, again change paper, none that do not heal.
腿脚浮肿破烂似疮而非疮 Tuǐ jiǎo fú zhǒng pò làn shì chuāng ér fēi chuāng
Leg and foot edema and erosion resembling sore but not sore
有人腿脚浮肿破烂十余年不愈,后用生黄豆,将口漱净,自行嚼烂敷之,数日全愈。Some people [have] leg [and] feet edema and erosion for more than ten years without recovery, then use raw soybeans, rinse [the] opening clean, chew to mash and apply, complete recovery [in] several days.
腿上生疮破烂多孔 Tuǐ shàng shēng chuāng pò làn duō kǒng
Sore sprouting on leg with erosion and many openings
照疮方治之。如不见效,用凤仙花连根叶熬水洗,数日必愈。Treat according to formulas [for] sores. If results not seen, use Feng Xian Hua including root and leaf decoct [and] rinse, recovery certain [in] several days.
腿足忽然红肿热痛或时上时下或烂或不烂 Tuǐ zú hū rán hóng zhǒng rè tòng huò shí shàng shí xià huò làn huò bù làn
Leg and foot suddenly red, swollen, hot pain, sometimes up sometimes down, erosion or no erosion
此游风丹毒也。用清凉膏(见汤火伤门)敷之,忌食鲜肉半月,其效如神。此林屋山人经验方也。This [is] traveling wind cinnabar toxin[15] . Apply Qing Liang Gao (see burns section), avoid eating seafood [and] meat [for] half-month, the result [is] like magic.This [is] mountain hermit’s empirical formula.
腿面不红不肿痛极难忍 Tuǐ miàn bù hóng bu zhǒng tòng jí nán rěn
Shin not red not swollen but extreme pain difficult to endure
此症他人按之极冷,病患只叫腿热,此湿热伏于经络也。用马兰膏(见游风丹毒门)敷 之神效,或照游风丹毒各方治之。如病人不叫腿热,恐是附骨疽症,须辨别施治为妥。This syndrome others attribute to extreme cold, patient only [complains of] leg heat, this [is] damp-heat lurking in [the] Jing Luo[16] . Use Ma Lan Gao (see traveling wind red toxin section), apply for miraculous effect, or follow traveling wind cinnabar toxin formulas to treat. If patient does not [complain of] leg heat, [the] fear is bone flat-abscess disease[17] , must appropriately differentiate [and] execute treatment.
